AMAGGI is the only leading Brazilian soybean company in the Forest 500 ranking

AMAGGI maintains its leadership in the soybean trader and distributor segment in the Forest 500 global ranking. For the fourth consecutive year, the company ranks first as a Brazilian soybean producer and trader in the report, which has just celebrated its 11th edition. In this edition, the Forest 500 ranking expanded its scope with the inclusion of new companies, mostly large international groups. Even in this more competitive scenario, AMAGGI remains the only company with 100% Brazilian capital among the top 10 corporations in the world in the fight against deforestation and the conversion of native vegetation. The result was announced this Tuesday (April 29) by Global Canopy, an international non-profit organization responsible for the ranking.

The Forest 500 ranking assesses the 500 most influential companies and financial institutions in the global trade of nine commodities with high risk of forest impact: beef, leather, soybean, palm oil, timber, pulp and paper, cocoa, coffee, and rubber. Organizations are analyzed based on their sustainability commitments, including actions against deforestation, respect for human rights and transparency in environmental management.

After 11 years of analysis, only 3% of companies demonstrate strong commitment and good implementation. Another 63% have partial commitments or limited implementation, while 34% have not yet made formal commitments. Among the highlights of this year’s ranking, in addition to AMAGGI, there are large groups such as Nestlé, Unilever, Danone and Mars.

“In 2025, the Forest 500 expanded the scope of the report with the inclusion of new companies. Even so, we have remained a leader in the soybean trader and distributor segment and among the 10 largest global corporations. This only reinforces that we are on the right path, combining economic development with the preservation of forests and the environment,” says Judiney Carvalho de Souza, CEO at AMAGGI.

The assessment is based on public information made available by companies in the previous year. In the case of AMAGGI, the data considered were extracted from January to September 2024, mainly from the ESG Report and the Progress Report, both available on the company’s website.

“At AMAGGI, sustainability is present throughout our business. We are working to ensure a deforestation-free grain chain and conversion of native vegetation by 2025, supported by advanced traceability technologies. We are a reference in socio-environmental certifications, comply with the main international standards, and have made robust climate commitments: we have joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and Race to Zero, with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. With short-term, long-term and land use goals (FLAG) approved by SBTi, we invest in initiatives such as Amaggi Regenera, focused on regenerative agriculture, and the B100 project, which uses 100% pure soy biodiesel in our logistics and agricultural operations,” explains Juliana Lopes, ESG, Communication and Compliance director at AMAGGI.

Forest 500’s mission is to provide open data, metrics and insights that support companies, financial institutions, governments and organizations in adopting best practices in sustainability and fighting deforestation.
