AMAGGI publishes its 2017 Sustainability Report
AMAGGI has just launched its 2017 Sustainability Report 2017, one of the most important transparency, accountability and management tools for the company’s main social, economic and environmental indicators.
The Report shows information for the January 1 to December 31, 2017 period. It was produced with the involvement of all of the company’s areas, and the reported themes were established based on a process that included consultations with the company’s main stakeholders: internal audience (employees), local communities, farmers, institutional partners, suppliers, and others.
This is the fourteenth annual report and the tenth edition developed under the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) methodology established by that global reference in sustainability reports. The reported information is associated with the principles
of the Global Compact, the United Nations Sustainable Development Objectives and the strategic blocks that make up AMAGGI`s Global Sustainability Positioning.
The Report is available in a short online print version for viewing and downloading. It was prepared with the support of a specialized consulting company and contains institutional information, including AMAGGI’s social and environmental management advances, as well as data related to the company’s business areas.
In the 2017 edition, the publication features more information about AMAGGI’s value chain, with a focus on its grain chain. In the online version, it is possible to find out a little more about the main stages of the company’s operation, from grain origination to final delivery to customers.
The Report`s highlights include updates on AMAGGI’s institutional commitments and social and environmental partnerships. For example, in 2017, the company contributed to the definition of strategies for achieving the Produce, Retain and Include (PCI) goals, a strategy for Mato Grosso State`s sustainable development.
Another reported result was AMAGGI’s contribution to the development of the Agroideal platform for the Cerrado region, an interactive analysis system created for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) environmental group by agribusiness companies, environmental NGOs, banks and research institutions. The tool helps soybean companies to make more sustainable investments that prevent deforestation and other negative impacts, based on qualified social and environmental information.
The data released in the Report also include information on the Sustainability Dialogues: 289 of them were held in all AMAGGI units through2017, promoting strategic discussions on themes and initiatives that generate value for the company and to society as a whole; and on the DAS (Annual Sustainability Dialogue) event, which, since 2012, has already brought together 11 thousand participants for the purpose of strengthening the sustainability concept adopted by the company.
